5K and 10K Course Description
Both runs start and end at a designated area outside the lower pavilion. When you drive into the resort, simply tell the Security attendant that you are here for the race. They will give you directions to the lower pool. Right past the pool you will see the start/finish line and the pavilion will be on your right. Allow plenty of time to get here from the front gate and obey the posted speed limits. The last thing we want is for you to get a ticket racing to the starting line!
5K Course Description
At the starting line you will head south and follow the road downhill for approximately .5 miles where you will turnaround at the back gate and head back uphill. You will continue running to the stop sign and turn right onto Arapahoe Lane. (There will be someone there to direct you.) Running on the right hand side of the paved road you will have a notice the elevation going down, nothing major, and you will continue on LaMesa. When you reach the top of the hill (intersection of LaMesa and Lake Valley, you will turn left. Continue on Lake Valley Drive and head back toward the starting line. When you get to the intersection, a course marshall will have you turn right. The road is flat, you will see the clock and can sprint to the finish chute.
10K Course Description
Run exactly like the 5K run and continue on LaMesa and as it winds around you will encounter a slight uphill. This is where the 5 and 10K runners split. Turn right onto Lake Valley Drive and continue running straight on the right-hand side of the road for approximately 1.25 miles. When you get to the stop sign at Iroquois, turn left. Once up this short hill (it’s not even 1/10 of a mile) turn left again and you will be happy to see a long flat road which will eventually lead you to Huron Circle. STAY RIGHT on Huron Circle until you get to Choctaw. Bear right on Choctaw and enjoy the downhill, turn right on Lake Valley. Stay on Lake Valley until you get to Cheyenne Drive where you will turn left. Things will look familiar and you can enjoy the view as you ramble home the same way you came. Stay on the right coming home. We will have cones, arrows, and personnel out there. You will not get lost.
Water and sports drink will be available at miles 2, 4, and the finish line. Enjoy the run. Check out the course map for more details.
