CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia) is a birth defect that occurs in utero when an unborn child’s diaphragm fails to form. The diaphragm separates the abdomen from the chest. When CDH occurs the organs in the abdomen protrude into the chest cavity resulting in underdeveloped lungs & many complications. 1600 babies are diagnosed each year in the US alone & there is a 50% chance of survival rate.
